Weather Control

Ever since I can remember, my dad has insisted that the government is trying to control the weather.  I always just assumed that was part of his crazy conspiracy theorist attitude.

So today, when he saw on the news that the ski resorts are not getting the snow that was predicted by the weatherman (by the way, the weatherman is deserving of his own ‘dad blog’…later), he started his rant about the government controlling the weather again.  I’m not sure why the government is keeping the mountains from getting snow, but according to dad they are.

“Kennedy said, before you were even born, that when we got to the moon we’d be able to control the weather.  What do you think those 12 guys up there on the space station are doing?!” He asked me.

“I don’t know what they do up there…” I responded.

“EXACTLY!!!  No one knows!”  His AHA moment.

Though I’m pretty sure someone knows what they “do up there”, I decided to google ‘Kennedy states we control the weather’ and guess what?  There was a speech to the UN on September 15, 1961 (uh huh – before I was born) delivered by Kennedy in which he states…and I quote –

“We shall propose further cooperative efforts between all nations in weather prediction and eventually in weather control. We shall propose, finally, a global system of communications satellites linking the whole world in telegraph and telephone and radio and television. The day need not be far away when such a system will televise the proceedings of this body to every corner of the world for the benefit of peace.”

That’s all I have to say on the subject.  You can decide for yourself if our government is indeed controlling the weather.
